Claim-level copy editing is an editing service that combines copy editing with fact-checking. Every sentence is reviewed for clarity, grammar, and (and every factual claim is verified against reliable sources.) Vague or unsourced statements are flagged, challenged, or rewritten.
How is claim-level copy editing different from standard proofreading?
Proofreading catches surface errors: typos, punctuation, spelling. Claim-level copy editing goes further. It edits for clarity and also checks whether the factual statements in your content are accurate, specific, and properly sourced.
Does claim-level copy editing include fact-checking?
Yes. Fact-checking is built into the process. Every verifiable claim is checked against reliable sources. If a source can't be found, the claim is flagged as unverifiable with a recommended fix. You also receive a separate source report listing every verified claim and its reference.
